Introduction

By connecting Jotform with your TNZ account, you can instantly send an SMS notification whenever a form is submitted.

This is ideal for time-sensitive actions like lead alerts, customer service acknowledgements, internal notifications, or immediate confirmations.

The notification can be sent to a team member ("a form has just been completed") or directly to the form user ("thank you for completing the form").

This guide provides a step-by-step process to set up this powerful integration using TNZ's dedicated Jotform WebHooks endpoint.

Connecting TNZ to Jotform

Step 1: Generate Your TNZ API Credentials

For security and tracking purposes, we recommend creating a dedicated API user for your Jotform integration.

  1. Log into your TNZ Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the User section.

  3. Create a New User specifically for "Jotform".

  4. Enable the Legacy API for this new user.

  5. Take note of the generated Sender and Token values. You will need these to authorise SMS from Jotform.

Security Note:
Treat your API Token as a password. TNZ's dedicated Jotform WebHook allows you to embed these credentials securely within your form fields. It is important these are not shared publicly with form users.

Step 2: Create and Configure Your Jotform

  1. Log in to your Jotform account

  2. Create a New Form or edit an existing one.

  3. In the Form Builder, add the following four fields.

While some can be visible to the user, we recommend setting the TNZ credentials as Hidden Fields for security and a cleaner user experience. See How to Hide Form Fields in Jotform.

TNZ API Field Jotform Field Type (Recommended) Purpose Configuration Note
Sender Short Text | Hidden Your TNZ Sender (Username) Set the field's Default Value to the Sender value from Step 1 and hide the field.
Token Short Text | Hidden Your TNZ API Token Set the field's Default Value to the Token value from Step 1 and hide the field.
Destination Short Text The SMS recipient's mobile number This can be a field the user enters (e.g. their mobile number) or a hidden field with an internal number (e.g. your staff member's mobile number).
Message Short Text or Long Text | Hidden The content of the SMS This can be a static message (set as a Default Value in a hidden field) or dynamically generated from other form fields. Ensure you hide the field.

Step 3: Set Up the WebHooks Integration in Jotform

Once your form is configured with the necessary fields, the final step is to tell Jotform where to send the submission data.

  1. In the Jotform Form Builder, click Settings at the top of the page.

  2. From the left-hand menu, select Integrations.

  3. Search for and select WebHooks.

  4. In the Add WebHook box, enter: https://www.tnz.co.nz/api/jotform/sms

  5. Click Complete Integration.

Testing

Your Jotform is now connected to the TNZ platform. Whenever a user submits the form, Jotform will instantly send the form data (including your Sender, Token, Destination, and Message fields) to the dedicated TNZ endpoint, which will process the request and dispatch the SMS message.

To Test Your Setup:

  1. Open your live Jotform link.

  2. Fill in the form fields and submit the form.

  3. Check your mobile device for the incoming SMS notification.

If the SMS is not received, check the following:

  • Verify that your Sender and Token values in the hidden fields exactly match the credentials from Step 1.

  • Check your email for a TNZ notification.

If you encounter any issues during the setup process, please do not hesitate to contact the TNZ support team. We are here to help you get connected!
